Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hungary Along the Danube - Patterns and Symbols on Ethnographic Objects

Hungarian living heritage in Hangzhou, bringing craft, music and community traditions into a shared museum experience.

Location
Temporary Exhibition Hall, Level B1, Zhejiang Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, Hangzhou, China
Duration
30 September – 29 November 2026

The Zhejiang presentation opened on 30 September 2026. Following an introductory section, three chapters explore family life, communal celebration and cultural dialogue. Lace, embroidery, pottery and food traditions introduce the home; masks, instruments and dance reveal collective customs. Audiovisual displays, scent experiences and interviews with Chinese and Hungarian specialists extend the encounter beyond objects. The Museum of Ethnography and the Matyó Folk-art Association contributed to the exhibition, with Back & Rosta organizing and coordinating the project. Traditional decorative motifs and digital interaction connect Hungarian heritage with contemporary creativity.

Director Guo Yi speaks at a flower-adorned lectern before a seated audience, with a floral backdrop for the exhibition “Songs of Life Along the Danube: An Exhibition of Hungarian Intangible Cultural Heritage” at the Zhejiang Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum.
